84cm High, 35cm Wide, 34.5cm Deep. Cast Iron, and I’d say somewhere in the 100kg region of weight. Possibly a bit more. I never had any particular plan for it, and it sat in the garage for a long time, has moved house with me twice, and was always on the to-do list. I finally blasted it, gave it a coat of paint, and whilst taking the lock out it disintegrated, so it currently doesn’t have a working lock. I’m waiting to speak to our lock expert at work, who might be able to rebuild it for me, or will try and find a left hand opening lock, which is a 4″ x 3″ chubb lock. I’ve priced it to take this into consideration. Comes with the non functioning lock and some collection plates, along with day plates. I gave it a couple of coats of red to stop any oxidation once I’d blasted it, it could probably do with another coat. This one had a good 10+ coats on it when it left service. It’s a gentle restoration, i didn’t do any metal repairwork to it. It really is a case of what you see is what you get. I was going to build it into a wall during the next step of garden work, but the only place it’ll fit is almost floor level, and it’ll just look a bit weird. This style of box was built into brick pillars and raised a reasonable height off the ground. It’s not a massively rare model, but it’s a nice bit of British history.
